The 160th Special Operations Aviation
Regiment (Airborne) provides aviation support to Army Special Operations
forces. The Regiment consists of modified MH-6/AH-6 utility/attack
helicopters, MH-60/AH-60 utility/attack helicopters and MH-47
medium-lift helicopters. The capabilities of the 160th SOAR
have been evolving since the early 1980s.

The armed AH-6J attack version can be fitted with a mix of 7.62mm
miniguns, 70mm rocket pods, .50-caliber machine guns, or Hellfire

MH-60 "Crash Hawk"

Utility - Equipped with the AAQ-16 FLIR , ALQ-144 IR
jammer, radar warning receivers. The MH-47E also typically mounts a
.50-caliber machine gun out a back window and an M60 7.62mm machine gun
facing out the helicopter's rear ramp.

AH-60 "DAP"

The armed AH-60 attack version can be fitted with a
mix of 7.62mm miniguns, 70mm rocket pods, .50-caliber machine guns, or
Hellfire air-to-ground missiles as well as a 30mm cannon and Stinger

|
MH-47E is equipped with an aerial refueling probe, a
rescue hoist, a fast-rope rappeling system, two 7.62mm miniguns that can
each fire 4,000 to 6,000 rounds per minute, and AAQ-16 FLIR, ALQ-144 IR
